The German lottery brokerage has granted Lottoland Deutschland a licence. Being added to the whitelist of organisations authorised to distribute online state-licensed lottery games by the Joint Gambling Authority of the German federal states (GGL), the operator will be authorised to do so with the licence.
With the help of additional licences, the company will soon be able to provide online sports betting and slot machine games to German customers.
"We are delighted that our licence application has finally been approved by the Joint Gaming Authority of the German federal states after intensive examination by the federal states," Lottoland Deutschland Managing Director Magnus von Zitzewitz said in regards to the licence.
This follows October's demands by the GGL to restrict access to Lottoland Group websites within the country. Lots of payment processors were told to "terminate cooperation" with Lottoland by the authorities.
Lottoland is available in a wide variety of countries. Lottoland has made headlines for its worldwide operations, such as a November poll in Ireland that the firm commissioned from Ireland Thinks; the results showed that 75% of Irish citizens were opposed to gambling bans proposed by the Gambling Regulation Bill 2022.
In early 2022, the business and Tabcorp were both granted keno licences by the Victoria State Government.
A more current development is the collaboration between Lottoland and HabitRewire. It granted the business access to HabitRewire iGaming's suite of wellness products and services for employees in June.
