The Carolina Hurricanes and Fanatics Betting and Gaming are now partners.
Fanatics Holdings' online sports platform will join forces with the team to become its Official Sports Betting Partner in the lead-up to North Carolina's regulated online sports betting.
Currently, the timeline calls for the debut of online sports betting in March 2024, after a hectic winter for the regulators in determining possible launch dates.
This followed remarks by North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, who had previously said that the goal was to go live during the NCAA March Madness basketball tournament.
The Hurricanes are ecstatic to have Fanatics on board as our official sports betting partner," stated Hurricanes President and General Manager Don Waddell.
"Fanatics Sportsbook will bring a user-friendly experience for North Carolinians to wager on sports responsibly, and we're proud to partner with them on this endeavour."
North Carolina fans can also visit the retail sportsbook at PNC Arena, in addition to the online platforms and applications.
The Fanatics Betting and Gaming brand will be featured prominently around the Arena, thanks to their status as the Official Sports Betting Partner. This includes in-arena signage and broadcast integrations.
We are thrilled to have the Carolina Hurricanes as our market access partner in North Carolina," stated Ari Borod, Chief Business Officer of Fanatics Betting and Gaming.
Working with a highly skilled professional sports organisation that understands how to increase revenue in the sports industry through the release of a competitive product is a huge boon to our company.
"We are excited to work with the organisation to provide North Carolina's sports fans with a betting product that lives up to their high standards as a passionate fanbase."
Just last week, DraftKings inked a deal with NASCAR to gain access to the state, so it's not just Fanatics Betting and Gaming that has its sights set on the state.
